38. Dorando Pietri`s wrong way

In 1908 London Summer Olympics, Italian marathon runner Dorando Pietri entered the stadium as the leader. He was so exhausted and disoriented that he actually missed the way, and started running in the wrong direction, collapsing and getting up on his own several times. Eventually, doctors came to his way and went through the finish line with him – which disqualified him from winning the medal.
